GROWING FREEDOM: The instructions of Yoko Ono and The art of John and Yoko
As part of Yoko Ono’s project, The Vancouver Art Gallery is displaying poems and testaments from individuals who self-identify as women to be part of an installation for an exhibition entitled GROWING FREEDOM: The instructions of Yoko Ono and The art of John and Yoko, on view from October 9, 2021, until May 1, 2022. Once the exhibition closes, the writings will remain in Yoko Ono's archive.
A united subconscious,
Nonetheless; our bodies at conflict,
Impulses that seem innate have you hypnotized;
You strike, we defend,
There is a disjuncture between us,
Are we not one?
What must we do to attain enduring peace-
If our actions, words, resistance do not reach you?
